BUILDING DIGNITY is an architectural campaign that delivers the opportunity to recognize the beauty and significance of historic buildings in the local community. In spite of the fact that historic buildings are essential part of the local community and culture, the general public is usually unconcerned about the historic buildings; therefore they can be easily abandoned and demolished. As a major part of the campaign to raise the public concern for such historic buildings, the BUILDING DIGNITY Exhibition was initiated utilizing an abandoned building of former Tokyo Rope Mfg. Kokura Plant, a 100-year-old brick masonry structure remaining in Kitakyushu City, and the Moji Okan Way, a part of the old highway network of Edo era.

BUILDING DIGNITY （ビルディングディグニティ）とは、地域の文化に不可欠な要素である建築物やまちなみの美しさ・魅力を発見する機会を提供し、その認知度と愛着心の向上を通して、建築の尊厳を（再）構築することを目指した一連の活動で、2013年にスタートしました。 この活動の重要な核となるのは、歴史的建造物やまちなみを舞台に、同じタイトルを冠して開催する展覧会です。 2014年の第二回目の「BUILDING DIGNITY」展は、福岡県北九州市小倉北区高浜の吉川精密株式会社構内にある、旧東京製綱小倉工場の赤煉瓦建築と、門司往還を会場として2014年10月25日から11月3日までの10日間に渡って開催します。
